The season comes to an end !!!!

Today is our last day guiding in Northwest MO until the spring snow
goose season.It was another great season we harvested 26 bucks and
killed 364 ducks and 145 snow geese !!! Old man winter gave us a visit
in early December when the duck hunting was just getting good which
should make our Arkansas hunts in Jan. really good !!! We would like
to thank all of clients for there business and hope everyone has a
Merry Christmas!!!!

After almost 3 weeks of warm weather the cold weather is finally here
and so are the ducks !!!! Of the past couple of days large flocks of
migrators are moving into Northwest Missouri and we are finally
killing lots of ducks !!! Yesterday afternoon we killed 20 mallards in
just over 2 hrs of hunting !!!! And the action has really picked up
over the last couple days !!! We still have a few openings if you have
the need to kill some big northern mallards!!!!

What a season !!!

Well today was the end of the Missouri rifle season and what a season
it was !!! After a slow start to the first 5 days things really picked
up over the second 5 days with every hunter killing out !!! Overall
with archery and rifle in Missouri and Nebraska we killed 21 bucks and
17 of our bucks scored over 125. It was a record year for us and we
can't wait for next season . If you haven't booked your spot yet you
need to now !! We only have 16 spot available for rifle in Missouri
and only 4 spots for Nebraska . Archery spots are filling up fast so
if your thinking of a rut hunt don't wait until the last moment !!!
Our Kansas rifle season starts next week and we are really excited
about the deer we have been seeing over there. And for Kansas for 2010
we will only be taking 4 rifle hunters, don't wait too long book your
hunt now !!! Thank you for another great season and hope to see u next
year !!!

We ended the early portion of the bow season yesterday and even though
the weather has been really warm we still managed to kill 10 bucks in
14 days with 15 bow hunters total !! I will take 66% success rate
anytime !!!! Today opens the Missouri and Nebraska rifle season and we
have hunters in both states waiting for that monster to walkout !!!

It's not always about trophy bucks !!

There's nothing I love better than taking a kid hunting and when that
kid just happens to be your nephew,well it just doesn't get any better
than that. Being an outfitter so much of my time is spent trying to
get clients on game that I rarely get a chance to hunt with family or
friends. So when I get the chance to take my brother or nephew out
thats just priceless !!!!
Gavin is differnt than most kids his age he has a love for the
outdoors that you just don't see and as his Uncle I'm so happy we
share the same passion and love. For me the outdoors is everything
besides spending time with my family every free moment is spent think
about hunting and guiding and I think Gavin is being to think the same
way. Any kid that would rather go deer hunting than trick or treat is
hooked !!!
Our first morning didnt go as well as we would have liked. The hunting
was slow with just a few doe hitting the field and it looked like it
was going to be a long day with the temp rising fast. After regrouping
and getting a bite for lunch we headed back out for what we thought
would be a good evening hunt, but warm weather made deer movement
slow. Rod had asked Gavin about harvesting a doe since the bucks
weren't moving well and he said he would love to shoot one it seemed
as if only minutes later a nice mature doe walk out to the field where
Gavin shoot her at an amazing 200 yards !!! It didn't seem to matter
to Gavin if he shoot a buck or doe he was just happy to be hunting !!!
The look on his face was priceless and just was a quick reminder to
how lucky I am to have a brother and nephew who share my passion!!!!
Everytime I go hunting I learn something and on this hunt he reminded
that's not always about the trophy buck !!!! Congrats Gavin and I hope
u enjoy the meat !!!!

Today is like x-mas at Pro Outfitters !!! After waiting all summer the
ducks season is finally here and pre-rut is in full swing. With today
being the opening day of duck season and the opening of the youth
rifle season and the rut just right around the corner we got a full
lodge of hunters ready to take to the woods!!! It looks like it's
going to be another great yr here at Pro Outfitters !!!! Let the work
begin !!!!

We opened the turkey season with a bang !!!! We killed three birds
today getting the season off to a great start. We had five hunters in
camp and killed 3 birds and two other hunters missed today. It's good
to be back in the turkey woods !!!

I love youth season !!

One of my favorite things is to guide turkey hunts !! But when I have
the chance to guide two of my best friends kids during the youth
season that is priceless!! The weather didn't work out for us but we
had the chance to have a few laughs and remember old time. It's not
always about the kill but the memories made and this weekend we made
many memories that live on at Pro Outfitters for many years !!

Shed hunting

Last week I got to spend a little time with my nephew Gavin shed
hunting. He was on spring break and was looking forward to getting out
and finding some sheds.For some reason he's my good luck charm !!
Everytime we shed hunt together we seem to find some big boys and on
this day it was no different. Of course he did find the biggest shed
of the day !!!!

This week we had the honor of guiding six guys who made the trip over
from England.After a major snow storm pushed the geese south.A warm
front pushed the geese back north on Wednesday afternoon and they were
able to lay the smack down on 31 geese that afternoon.The sky was
raining snows !!!!!!

On Jan.11th my wife gave birth to Michael Grayson Gannaway 4lbs 5
ounces and 17 inches long and Gabrielle Kristy Gannaway 4 lbs 2
ounces and 16.5 inches long. After spending 24 days in the hosptial
it's good to have them home in Mom and Dad arms.

luck had ran out.So in order to change our luck I shaved my head I
hadn't even finished shaving it when I got the call that a big buck
was down. Since Wednesday we have killed 3 bucks I guess shaving my
head was worth it !!!!

Nothing excites me more than taking kids out hunting, and when it's
your own niece and nephew you just can't beat that. My nephew Gavin
Gannaway is a true whitetail addict,even though he is only 6 years old
he loves to hunt big bucks and this weekend he laid the smackdown on a
big 8 pointer. Michael Waddell better watch out Big Buck slayer Gavin
Gannaway is here to stay. I guess I know who is a future guide at Pro
Outfitters.

There is nothing better than introducing a kid to the outdoors, and
when that kid happens to be your nephew that is truely pricesless.I
have never been around a 6 year old kid with such drive to hunt as

of Lodge Life TV. We are really excited about our first week of

Hey Guys,

I hope everyone is enjoying there turkey season so far ? For me my
turkey season has truly been hit and miss.I'm sure everyone has read
or heard about my miss on opening day?
Well today I got to redeem myself by guiding a client to his first
eastern turkey kill.Al Shakespere came all the way from California to
try and complete another leg of the royal slam.And it happened at
6:23 this morning.The bird weighed 24.5 lbs 11.5 inch beard and 1.5
inch spurs.Congrats Al and thank you for getting the monkey off my back.

The daily double

Hey Guys,

Well today the guys pulled off the daily double. Guide Corey White and
camera man Dusty Altman headed out this morning hoping to get some
good footage of some turkeys.Man did they have a hunt of a
lifetime.They had 5 toms and 4 jakes come into the decoy right after
sunlight. Within 30 mintues they had killed 2 birds Corey's bird
weighed 23 lbs 11/4 spurs and 10 inch beard. Dusty's bird weighed 17
lbs and 12inch beard. The key to the hunt was Fast Freddy a real
mounted decoy in full strut which made its debut today. Those big
birds didn't like the thought of some punk bird sneaking into there
turf to steal there girls and man did it work.I guess from now on Fast
Freddy will be along side all of our hunts to help get all his buddies
into gun barrell range.

How do you miss a turkey ?

Hey Guys,

Hope your opening day went well? I couldn't really ask for much more
for my opening day.The good lord blessed my with a wonderfull sunrise
and the sound of birds gobbling.But I guess I really didn't do my
part.You see as an outfitter you get asked every question you can
think of and one of the most asked questions.Is how can you miss a
turkey ? Well let me tell you its pretty easy if a big tree is down
and you try and shoot over it. Well that's what happened to me today i
had a really nice bird only thirty yards away and instead of shoot the
bird I shot the tree.I must say this is the first time I have done
that.Of course I have missed birds before if you hunt long Enough its
going to happen but you just hope its not on camera.For a tv show for
millions to see. Hey if that's the stupidist thing I do on camera
that's not so bad.
The picture you see of the 10 pointer I found dead is alot more
painfull than missing a bird. We found it this morning more than
likely it was pouched. Its to bad in a few years he would have been a
really monster.

The great thing about scouting during the spring turkey season is you
never know what you might run into.While out scouting we came across
the biggest turtle I have ever seen. For some reason he didn't want to
stay on his side of the road. I hope everybody has a great start to
